A fusion of styles to make an amazing bite! Sausage and peppers are such a nostalgic food for me and my family. Taking those flavors and making a stuffed bread just takes this to a whole new level

Ingredients

1 Red Bell Pepper
1 Orange Bell Pepper
1 Green Bell Pepper
1 White Onion
1 lb Italian Sausage (Ground)
1 French Bread
4 Mozzarella Cheese ( slices )
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tbsp Italian Seasoning

Steps

Prep Peppers and Onions

Slice and Dice your peppers and onions into small pieces. This will make it easier to stuff in the bread.

Cook Peppers and Onions

Over direct coals in a cast iron or carbon steel pan, add your peppers and onions with olive oil and Italian seasoning. Cook for 15 minutes until the peppers and onions become tender

Prep the Bread

Take your french bread loaf and slice off the top. Then remove majority of the bread from the inside of the loaf to create a boat where we will add the stuffing.

Stuff the Bread

Start by laying down your slices of mozzarella cheese. Then add a layer of your sauteed peppers and onions. Lastly pack on the ground italian sausage from edge to edge. This will hold the stuffing inside the bread

Grill

Grill the stuffed bread over the direct coals with the sausage side down. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the sausage is cooked all the way through
